These Chinese smartphones are pre-installed with malware, stealing money

Chinese smartphones are cheap and this is why Chinese mobile companies make their place in the market in a very short time. Transon Holding is a big name in cheap Chinese phones, which makes the branding of Techno and Infinix smartphones. Tecno and Infinix's smartphone sales in India are good. Most of the company's phones are in the entry level or budget, but now the company has come into a dispute. Transition holding is quite popular in India and Africa.

A report by Bajfeed News claimed that malware is already coming in techno phones and these malware users are able to steal money from their phones. The special thing is that these malware apps are subscribing to paid service without the permission of the users. A 41-year-old African man owns a Tecno W2 smartphone and has received malware in this phone.

Paid service started without permission

This phone constantly shows popup ads, even when talking on the phone and chatting while popup ad comes. The person has claimed that many paid services have started in his phone and for this money has been deducted from his account.

Following this claim, the mobile security company named Buzzfeed and Secure-D investigated the case which revealed that the techno phone had pre-installed xHelperand Triada malware that was running out of data and stealing money.

Secure-D also said that its network has failed 8,44,000 transactions through this malware. For these transactions, the malware present in the phone tried between March 2019 to December 2019. On the other hand, Transaction Holding has said that it has not benefited from the transactions through this malware. The company has also refused to say how many phones have been affected by this malware.

चाइनीज स्मार्टफोन सस्ते होते हैं और इसी वजह से चाइनीज मोबाइल कंपनियां बहुत ही कम समय में बाजार में अपनी जगह बना लेती हैं। सस्ते चाइनीज फोन में ट्र्रांजन होल्डिंग का बड़ा नाम है जो कि टेक्नो और इनफिनिक्स स्मार्टफोन की ब्रांडिंग करती है। भारत में Tecno और Infinix के स्मार्टफोन की बिक्री अच्छी है। कंपनी के अधिकतर फोन एंट्री लेवल या बजट में होते हैं लेकिन अब कंपनी एक विवाद में आ गई है। ट्रांजन होल्डिंग भारत और अफ्रीका में काफी लोकप्रिय है।

बजफीड न्यूज की एक रिपोर्ट में दावा किया गया है टेक्नो के फोन में पहले से मैलवेयर इंस्टॉल आ रहे हैं और ये मैलवेयर यूजर्स के फोन से पैसे चुराने में सक्षम हैं। खास बात यह है कि ये मैलवेयर एप्स यूजर्स की इजाजत के बिना ही पेड सर्विस सब्सक्राइब कर रहे हैं। 41 साल के एक अफ्रीकी शख्स के पास Tecno W2 स्मार्टफोन है और इसी फोन में मैलवेयर मिला है। 

बिना इजाजत पेड सर्विस हुई शुरू

इस फोन में लगातार पॉपअप विज्ञापन दिखाई देते हैं, यहां तक कि फोन पर बात करते समय और चैटिंग के दौरान भी पॉपअप एड आता है। शख्स ने दावा किया है उसके फोन में कई पेड सर्विसेज शुरू हो गई हैं और इसके लिए उसके खाते से पैसे कटे हैं।

इस दावे के बाद बजफीड और सिक्योर-डी नाम की  मोबाइल सिक्योरिटी कंपनी ने मामले की जांच की है जिसमें पता चला है कि टेक्नो के फोन में xHelperand Triada मैलवेयर प्री-इंस्टॉल था जो कि डाटा खत्म कर रहा था और पैसे भी चुरा रहा था। 

सिक्योर-डी ने यह भी कहा कि उसके नेटवर्क ने इस मैलवेयर के जरिए होने वाले 8,44,000 ट्रांजेक्शन को फेल किया है। ये इन ट्रांजेक्शन के लिए फोन में मौजूद मैलवेयर ने मार्च 2019 से दिसंबर 2019 के बीच कोशिश किया है। वहीं ट्रांजन होल्डिंग ने इस मामले पर कहा है कि इस मैलवेयर के जरिए हुए ट्रांजेक्शन से उसे कोई फायदा नहीं हुआ है। कंपनी ने यह भी बताने से इनकार कर दिया है कि इस मैलवेयर के कारण कितने फोन प्रभावित हुए हैं।
