व्हाइट हाउस के प्रवक्ता जुड डीरे ने कहा, अमेरिका अपने अंतरराष्ट्रीय भागीदारों की इस वायरस से लड़ने में मदद करना जारी रखेगा, लेकिन हम भ्रष्ट विश्व स्वास्थ्य संगठन और चीन से प्रभावित बहुपक्षीय संगठनों द्वारा विवश नहीं होंगे।

अमेरिका का कहना है कि वह कोवैक्स से पहले ही कोरोना की वैक्सीन को तैयार करने की दौड़ को जीत लेगा। जॉर्जटाउन विश्वविद्यालय में वैश्विक स्वास्थ्य कानून के एक प्रोफेसर लॉरेंस गोस्टिन ने कहा, अमेरिका वैक्सीन के लिए एक अकेली रणनीति बनाकर बहुत बड़ा जुआ खेल रहा है। 

वहीं, अमेरिका के राष्ट्रपति डोनाल्ड ट्रंप ने सोमवार को एलान किया कि अमेरिका में एस्ट्राजेनेका द्वारा तैयार की जा रही कोरोना वैक्सीन का ट्रायल तीसरे चरण में पहुंच गया है। उन्होंने कहा कि यह वैक्सीन अनुमोदन में पास होने के बहुत करीब है। 


ट्रंप ने एक संवाददाता सम्मेलन में कहा, मुझे यह बताते हुए बेहद खुशी हो रही है कि एस्ट्राजेनेका वैक्सीन परीक्षण के तीसरे चरण में पहुंच गई है और वह उन वैक्सीन की सूची में शामिल हो गई है, जिन्हें बहुत जल्द कोरोना से लड़ने में इस्तेमाल किया जाएगा। उन्होंने कहा, अमेरिका में हम उन चीजों को कर रहे हैं, जिनको लेकर लोगों का मानना था कि वह संभव नहीं है।
